I have known John Eslinger as far back as 1991 when he worked for P&W/Avial and did a borescope training class for Greenwich Air Services Field Team during my tenure as the Director of Aircraft Maintenance.
Later in 1998 I founded a MRO company called Patriot Aviation Services (PAS). John came and gave another class with the team back in 2000. The other owners of PAS where also impressed, as I have always been with John, he came to be our VP of Marketing. Later after I left PAS to start Complete Turbine Service (CTS) he started back helping us with borescope inspections.
John is an upstanding guy with qualities of high regard for integrity and professionalism, always ensuring those around him are taken care of and pleased with his service.

John taught borescope courses at our training facility for many years and reviews from his (and our) students have been nothing short of exceptional. He is not only a terrific trainer, but he has an amazing philosophy and outlook on life. You never know what will happen after you ask him to go to lunch with you. I am a living testament to this – as John has completely changed my life for the better. Someday you will know why.

I met John in 1991 during a JT8D engine borescope combustion chamber inspection in Bolivia. Everyone who performs or performed this borescope inspection knows how difficult it is to introduce the tip of the borescope device in every combustion chamber and worse, to ‘sweep’ each chamber from the front to the end. With John’s training method, it is particularly easy to learn and it especially helps to improve your skills to handle the borescope device. John’s knowledge, complemented with a JT8D combustion chamber mock-up, makes you an expert borescoper from the beginning. To deal with other types of engines after this, it became much easier.
But John, as instructor, is just part of the picture. The other part is John as a human being. I can write some pages about this topic, beginning from the first day I met John, but I can say from that one week I spent with John, I have kept friendship with him since 1991. For me, to be his friend for all these years is a privilege. THANK YOU, JOHN.

Mr. Eslinger…. You, sir, are an insightful and articulate teacher of the old style. You know your topic, have mastered its delivery, and are entertaining at the same time. You demonstrate the performance you want, and, you demand the most from your students; who, in turn, perform wonderfully under your coaching…. How refreshing it is to say that with you, I know that my money has been well spent.

John, I’ve taken it upon myself to let you know our feelings and opinions of your class, your ability to teach, and communicate on a technical, professional, and personal level.
In recent years I’ve taken many courses and have been taught by some fine instructors. Your interest and knowledge in aviation ranks you among the top instructors I’ve labored for. Your candid opinions about safety and its necessity in our chosen field gives direct insight of your love and care for aviation.
The time we spent together I can honestly say you have a firm hold on your task of teaching. You have a way about you which makes it easy for students to relax and learn. Your teaching aids are excellent along with your eagerness to help those who need assistance.

…we have experienced direct benefit from John’s training. I have observed a greater enthusiasm by our inspectors to perform engine borescope inspections; something that I attribute to greater confidence incurred by training. It appears to me that through instruction of techniques, a once formidable task has been reduced to one more easily managed, evidenced by the fact that elapsed inspection time is typically halved! And for this alone, inspectors have felt compelled to thank us for providing training to them. Management is the most grateful of all for having had training accomplished, for now we have fully qualified and confident personnel poised to perform inspections in a program that we are sure to reduce delays, increase dispatch reliability, and save money. Once again, we thank you for providing training by way of John Eslinger.

It’s not often when an instructor touches your life such as the way an instructor has touched ours…. as you know learning the fine technique of ‘BORESCOPING’ is no small feat, although our instructor dealt with each one of our different personalities separately and enhanced our abilities. The gentleman’s name we are speaking of is John Eslinger.

John is the most enthusiastic instructor – and person – that I have ever met. He is extremely committed to his students, and makes sure that when you leave his course, that you have the skills needed to perform the task correctly.
Having said that, I have to say that he is also the most entertaining technical instructor I have had. His course was filled with anecdotes and real world lessons that helped us retain the information that was being taught. His professional attitude shows as he instructs his students, and as he displays his many years of experience in borescoping, and as an instructor. I look forward to attending one of his future classes.

Seeing John in action as an instructor and working with him on various engine models you can tell his attributes as a student translated well to his abilities as an instructor. His technical knowledge base, years of experience, and ease of presentation allows his students to pick up that knowledge and develop the techniques required for the art of borescoping.
